Before we dive into Smoke and Mirrors 101, make sure you've read our general shoot planning guide. It has everything you need to know to prepare you for almost ANY pole/aerial shoot.
Classic Smoke vs Smoke and Mirrors
There are two key differences between these two shoots; where the smoke lands and what floor is used. Our Classic Smoke theme involves keeping the smoke behind you like a backdrop. Smoke and Mirrors, however, lets the smoke drift forward, wrapping your body for that showstopper energy! And instead of our classic black hardwood effect flooring, we use a reflective sheet that bounces your reflection back into the image.
However, just like Classic Smoke, you can choose any colour you wish on the day and have up to 3 choices throughout your 30/40 minute shoot!
Price Difference
Something to bear in mind when it comes to this theme is that the reflective sheet is quite sensitive and needs to be replaced each time we use it. We found that reusing the same sheet would leave marks and scratches, warping the reflections more than is editable. So you will see there is a price difference between this theme and most of our other shoots, but it really is worth it to ensure we can provide the best experience with this setup!
Stay Low
Something we would like to emphasise is what moves you should plan for this theme. We strongly advise you plan shapes that are incredibly close to the floor. Shapes that land any higher than a couple of inches from the ground will likely result in little no no reflection. If you would rather focus on high up shapes, we suggest booking in for a Classic Smoke shoot instead.
Follow the Light
This shoot setup uses a single key light to highlight your face. We can move this around easily and we are happy to focus on your favourite side (if you have one). Throughout the shoot, look for this light! Its positioning on the set will make all the difference to your final image.
Have fun!
